What you need for paper plate sun craft:

  • 1 paper plate
  • Yellow construction paper
  • Yellow crepe paper
  • Scissors
  • Black marker
  • Glue
  • White paper or Googly eyes

How to make paper plate sun craft:

  1. First, gather all your materials together.

2. Grab the yellow construction paper and cut it into long strips of paper.

3. Place the paper plate so that it’s facing up, then apply some glue around the edge of the plate. After that, stick each strip around the edge of the paper plate like a loose loop to create a petal-like shape. Space them out evenly, and press firmly so they stick. This step is great for strengthening those little fingers!

4. Once you’ve gone round the plate, repeat the step, just like in the photo (like you’re looping them together). But make sure the loops are spaced evenly to give your sun a full, bright look. Press each one down firmly into the glue and let it sit for a few minutes to dry.

5. Once all the rays are attached, cut the yellow crepe paper into small square pieces. Then, turn the paper plate over so the bottom (the smooth side) is facing up. Apply some glue all over that surface – this will be the face of your sun.

6. With the glue spread all over the bottom of the plate, start sticking on your yellow crepe paper pieces. Scrunch each one slightly before pressing it down to give your sun a fun, fluffy texture. Keep layering the pieces until the entire surface is covered. leave no spot uncovered!

Leave no spot uncovered!

7. On a white paper, cut out two circles for eyes and colour in the eyeballs with a black marker.

You can replace the white paper with googly eyes if you want.

8. Glue the eyes on the plate and draw the mouth with a black marker.

Use markers to draw a happy face or add sunglasses for a fun twist. Hang it up or use it as a bright summer decoration.

And you’re done!

You’ve just made your own sunshine.
